Trick or Treat? Britain’s Favourite Treats For Your Spooky Visitors
As soon as we enter October for many there is only one thing on their mind, Halloween. Many people say that Halloween is an American tradition but the number of people who celebrate this spooky tradition in England will tell you otherwise. On the 31st of October, children will get dressed up in scary costumes and knock on neighbours doors shouting “trick-or-treat”.
Across the UK, households will have vast amounts of treats to give their spooky visitors and this can range from chocolates and biscuits to sweets and marshmallows. Brits really know how to treat their visitors and no one does sweet treats like them. British Essentials have put together a list of sweet treats you must have this Halloween no matter where you are.
Sweets
Lollypops
Children love lollypops and there really is one pack you turn to whenever you are looking for a share bag of lollypops, ‘lots of lollies’. Everyone recognises this pink packet and it brings you a range of your favourite lollies, you always know exactly which one they want to choose whether it is a drumstick, fruity pop or a double lolly.
Fizzy sweets
When we say fizzy sweets we’re talking love hearts, parma violets and fizzers. No-one does fizzy sweets like Swizzels and their bumper bags are perfect for Halloween. These individually wrapped sweets are favoured by trick-or-treaters and we can assure you that you won’t have any left by the end of the night.
Jelly sweets
If you’re unsure what to buy then you know that you can always fall back on mini bags of jelly sweets. Of course, Haribo Starmix is known by all Brits and children adore them. These mini bags are perfect for Halloween and are just the right size to fit in your pumpkin bucket. If you want to steer away from the traditional why not try the Tangfastics or Supermix? You can even get all three in a ‘share the fun’ tub.
Chocolate
Mars fun-size
When you think of chocolate to give out at Halloween we are sure many of you automatically picture Mars fun-size bags. Get all of your Mars favourites, in mini sizes making them perfect as a small sweet treat. Choose between Maltesers, Snickers, Milkyway bars and lots of yummy others. These fun-size bags are also great value if you know you will be getting lots of visitors this Halloween.
Cadbury treat-size
This is Cadburys version of fun-size bags, the treat-size favourites. This pack is full of Brit’s favourite chocolate, we can assure you that chocolate buttons, chomp bars and fudge bars are always a winner with the little ones. You can always rely on Cadbury to provide you with the best chocolate bars, even if they are mini versions.
Little bars
Sometimes it is nice to have a plain chocolate choice for any visitors with allergies or for younger ones who can’t have particular things. Thankfully, Cadbury have brought out ‘little bars’, perfectly sized, smaller and thinner pieces of plain chocolate. This is the safe option for everyone and they are still small enough to be a Halloween treat.
Biscuits
Chocolate biscuits
Not everyone gives out sweets and chocolate on Halloween, may choose to give away a more substantial alternative. You can get lots of different chocolate biscuits that are perfect for trick-or-treat buckets but a firm favourite is a Twix finger. The caramel layer and chocolate coating always goes down well.
Mini-packs
Another alternative to biscuit bars is mini packs of biscuits. Cadbury animal mini packs are perfect for Halloween. The animal-shaped biscuits are not only incredibly tasty but they look great too. Parents also like their children being given items like this mixed in amoungst their sweets and chocolate.
Cake bars
Along with biscuits some people choose to give out cake bars. Take something like McVities Jaffa cake bars, for example. Brits love a Jaffa cake and this is the perfect way to be able to give out something slightly different that is still individually packaged. Break tradition this Halloween and give out something unique.
